Lithuania Shines as a Top Health Tourism Destination with Prestigious ITB Award

Berlin 4 March 2025: Lithuania has been awarded the prestigious ITB Health Tourism Award 2025, recognizing the country’s high-quality health and wellness services, well-developed infrastructure, and growing international visibility. According to Kristina Citvarienė, Director of the Lithuanian Resorts Association, this award is not only an honor but also a strategic economic opportunity. The increasing number of foreign health tourists is driving further sector development while also improving services for locals.

Lithuania competes successfully with countries like Germany and Switzerland, offering natural healing resources, innovative treatments, and an attractive price-quality ratio. In 2024, Lithuanian sanatoriums and rehabilitation centers welcomed 290,000 visitors, a 16% increase, with a notable rise in overnight stays, especially from Germany and Israel.

Lithuania's global recognition continues to grow. In 2024, the country received seven ESPA awards and was named one of the best travel destinations for 2025 by Lonely Planet. The ITB award further solidifies its position as a top health tourism destination.
